| Guidelines for PTO Newsletter Submissions
The PTO newsletter is printed monthly, except for September and January. The deadline for the newsletter is the Friday following the monthly PTO meeting.
The preferred format for your information is electronic. We can accept documents written using any Microsoft Office product (i.e. Word, Excel, Publisher or PowerPoint) or Microsoft Works. If you use another product, you can copy or paste your information into the message area of your email and that will work as well. Occasionally, some clipart will not be compatible, so we might substitute clipart when necessary. If you can only provide hard copy, don’t worry. I have scanning capability, so I can convert your file to electronic when needed.
When submitting information about an upcoming event, remember that the newsletter is created a month in advance. For example, the information submitted by October 6th will be included in the November newsletter, which will be delivered to the students’ homes the last week of October.
We want to include all of your information, but please try to limit your submission to one page, single spaced. (Except the Principal, the PTO President and the School Board President - they get all the space that they need!) If your submission includes a form, please try to get it to us as early as possible so that we can allow space. Even under the best of circumstances, we sometimes need to crop your information. We will try to let you know before we go to the printer if we have shortened your article so that you can review it.
This year the committee has very limited ability to proofread the articles. Please help out by submitting your information in as complete (and grammatically correct!) as you possibly can. If you notice errors after submission, just call or email your corrections as soon as you notice them.
